Beyond the Tricks

These private virtual sessions address the subtler layers of aerial technique.
Rather than adding skills, we refine how movement is organized and felt. Through precise attention to detail, nervous system and proprioception work, we'll explore how movement can become embodied and integrated. This is also a space for those seeking to work intentionally with the nervous system to (re)establish felt safety in your aerial practice.

You may have noticed:

  • You're learning tricks but have gaps when it comes to technique, transitions, and engagement

  • You're strong, but lacking grace and fluidity

  • You're not feeling connected to your movement, intuition isn't part of your practice

  • You feel shaky, exhausted, nauseous, or achey after training

  • You have fear or avoidance around certain skills or for your practice generally

  • Your foundations are "missing" something

What we focus on

This is not trick coaching in the traditional sense and this is not about making things look "pretty" with toe points and microbends.

Many aerialists advance quickly without ever being taught the details of technique or how to feel movement. Over time, this shows up as inefficiency, injury, inconsistency, over-efforting, or plateaus. It stifles relationship, intentionality, expression, and embodiment, which can be life-changing layers of aerial practice.

These sessions are a space to slow down, clarify, and rebuild intelligence in your movement.

Our work centers on:

  • Movement precision - engagement, timing, body position, and apparatus placement

  • Somatic skill-building: learning to feel movement with more detail and clarity

  • Nervous system dynamics: working within your window of tolerance, understanding how regulation, pain perception, and fear shape your practice

  • Uncovering blind spots: gaps that often come from skill learning with incomplete foundations

Who This Is For

  • Beginner students seeking high quality foundation work

  • Intermediate students realizing the foundations are incomplete

  • Aerialists seeking to refine technique and form

  • Aerialists seeking presence in their body and connection with their apparatus

  • Aerialists navigating fear or shutdown around specific skills or aerial generally

  • Aerialists returning from injury or burnout who want to reestablish trust in their body

  • Aerialists who have felt unsettled, constrained, or out of sync with the training environments available to them and notice it affecting their practice or relationship with aerial.

  • Aerialists looking to reestablish autonomy in their practice.

  • Instructors who want to refine their internal experience of movement and incorporate into their teaching

  • Students who feel they’ve “missed something” foundational and want to address it directly

Sara Kaiser is an instructor and movement educator whose work brings neuroscience, psychology, learning theories, and trauma-informed instruction to the dynamic world of aerial arts. She is the founder of Wakeful Ascent Aerial Arts, where she develops continuing education and teacher training programs that integrate pedagogy, leadership, empowerment, and technical mastery.

Through years of teaching, interdisciplinary study, and building Bishop, California’s first aerial community +developing Aerial Silks Online, Sara has become known for her technical insight, uplifting teaching style, and ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear, usable frameworks for instructors.

Her BLOOM Aerial teacher training fills gaps in the field by addressing the often unseen factors that shape learning, including cognitive load, nervous system states, memory formation, studio values and culture, boundaries, somatic experiencing, leadership, and safety psychology. Sara's teaching approach considers the many layers of the student and honors the diversity of meanings that aerial brings to peoples' lives.

Whether she is guiding a beginner through their first hammock knot invert (a love language) or working with experienced teachers on facilitating a supportive learning environment, her focus remains the same:

to share the joy and empowerment of aerial arts.
