Hi, I'm Sara. I founded Wakeful Ascent Aerial Arts in June 2018 to share my love for aerial arts with others.
Having had zero dance training and having no clue how to move in non-awkward ways outside of yoga class, I was amazed when in 2015 aerial helped me discover the naturalness of graceful movement and even brought it into my everyday life. Today, fluidity and grace are marks of my personal aerial style.
I take a methodical and logical approach to teaching the art and discipline of aerial silks, guiding students through foundational skills and gradually building up to more complex and challenging tricks and poses while always reinforcing the core elements of aerial silks. I include technique and theory in my curricula. I offer clear guidelines for safe skill-building and make an effort to create a welcoming, inclusive, and playful atmosphere in the classroom.
Above all, I love to see how aerial arts can bring people together and spark creativity. My aerial family means the world to me and I can't imagine life without them!
Caitlin Wellwood began her aerial training in 2013, and is now a performer and instructor for Wakeful Ascent Aerial Arts. Her background in dance and rhythmic gymnastics inspires her to bring emphasis to technique and expression, the science and art of aerial movement. Caitlin loves what aerial brings to her life, and looks forward to creating and learning alongside other artists in the Eastern Sierra.
She hopes to help grow the aerial community in the Eastern Sierra. She encourages anyone who is even slightly curious about the discipline to give it a try! Caitlin brings a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere to her classes, and looks forward to sharing the joy of aerial arts with others.
