Sara Kaiser's Act: Work Song
Song: Work Song by Hozier
The lyrics refer to what at first glance may seem to be a woman. In my interpretation, the entity being referred to is the creative process herself.
The act seeks to capture the mutuality of the dark and the light a person encounters as she moves through life--how the good and bad both become meaningful as we formulate experience into artistic works.
It speaks to passion that doesn't give in to pressures of society, but instead inspires an artist to utilize, transform, or work around restrictions.
It speaks to the irresistible call of the creative process, a true seductress, but one that turns out to be more complex and depthful than she first appears.
The artist does not lie down and give up. If the artist lies down in despair, the act of doing so can still become part of the creative process.
Earth represents both the void and that which fills it.
This was a performance donated to a free virtual show by Fly Unfeathered. The artists donated content, and the audience donated in return. If you enjoy this film, please consider making a donation.
